How hard is it to build my house?

Assuming you won't be doing any of the actual building, it shouldn't be very hard to build my house! You would still hire a contractor and construction crew and pay for materials like you would with any other home building project. The only difference is that the blueprint the contractor and construction crew will be following is one of your own design. Of course, you won't be making the blueprint either. A professional house designer will. And that is the one difference with purchasing a pre-built home or a plan and coming up with your own. To build my house, you'll need to hire a consultant, and combine your ideas and expertise with his knowledge in order to come up with a plan for a home.

Why would I want to build my house?

Why wouldn't you? Sure, the process can be a little more expensive and take longer, but if your budget can accommodate it and you have the time to spare, there's no reason why you shouldn't build my house. You'll be able to provide your input and have a home that is uniquely yours. By living in a home of your own design, you'll see a bit of yourself everywhere you look. And that is priceless.
